Flash floods from heavy rains in central Vietnam this month have killed at least seven people, the government said.

The occurrence of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in human blood is known to be widespread; nevertheless, the sources of exposure to humans, including infants, are not well understood. In this study, breast milk collected from seven countries in Asia was analyzed (n = 184) for nine PFCs, including perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA).

This study was driven by two objectives: to develop a framework and methodology for assessing the outcomes of conservation-poverty reduction initiatives and to apply it to such initiatives in wetlands to understand conditions and methods that can support the integration or balancing of ecosystem

Several recent studies have concurred that Vietnam will be one of most vulnerable countries to climate change in the world. Gradual changes such as sea level rises and higher temperatures, more extremes of weather such as drought, and more intense typhoons are all on the horizon and will have a potentially devastating impact on the country

This study poses questions concerning the relative effectiveness of different conservation approaches, and is believed to be the first effort to address such questions focusing on wildlife trade drivers and interventions across multiple countries and products in south-east Asia.
