Targeting a 9% plus growth rate in the Twelfth plan period, the Government has initiated an exercise to assess the impact of economic growth on the environment.
An expert group, headed by environmental economist Partha Dasgupta, will provide a road map for Green National Accounting (GNA) system to evaluate impact of economic growth on environment by 2015.
This interim report prepared by the expert group set up by Planning Commission under leadership of Kirit Parikh highlights policies needed for the low carbon growth. The main sectors examined in this report are power, transport, industry, buildings and forestry & the recommendations made in this report are to be included in the 12th five-year plan (2012-17).
