Small Pacific island states could be hit by more tropical cyclones during future El Nino weather patterns due to climate change, scientists said on Tuesday.

Climate-related natural disaster shocks are expected to rise as the earth is getting warmer, which will adversely affect growth prospects globally.

The Pacific Island Climate Outlook Forum (PICOF) has issued its Regional climate outlook and tropical cyclone outlook for 2016/2017. The forum, which took place on 17th and 18th of October in Nadi, Fiji, had a specific focus on the impacts of the 2015/16 El Niño.

While surveying for raptors along the Achara beach in Malvan taluk of Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, seahorses Hippocampus kuda belonging to the family Syngnathidae were noticed on the beach on 23 June 2015. All seahorses belong to one genus Hippocampus, in which there are 34 species recognized all over the world. Despite their small size, seahorses form a valuable fisheries resource in some areas and support a sizeable international trade.
