There is a large uncertainty in the relative roles of human land use, climate change and carbon dioxide fertilization in changing desert dust source strength over the past 100 years, and the overall sign of human impacts on dust is not known.

The Kabartal wetland situated in the upper Indo-Gangetic flood plains in northern India is significant because of its hydrological and ecological services, and the socio-economic and cultural values that it represents. Despite being designated as a wildlife sanctuary, this wetland is under threat from anthropogenic pressures.

The satellite imageneries are used to map vegetative type, density, land use/land cover in Singrauli coal field area. Seven vegetation types of eight other land use/land cover classes observed have also been varified through field surveys.

This publication, the main report of the forestry outlook study of West and Central Asia, provides a long-term perspective of changes in the forest sector. Implemented in partnership with the countries, the study covered 23 countries in West Asia, Central Asia and the southern Caucasus. This report outlines the probable developments, including broader regional and global issues that need to be taken into account in developing national policies and programmes. It then discusses what needs to be done to enhance the contribution of forests and trees to society. It focuses particularly on probable development scenarios, their implications for society in terms of availability of goods and services, and the priorities and strategies that may be pursued to improve the situation.

This study deals with a range of selected issues in the areas of natural resource accounting in land and forest sectors namely physical accounting and valuation issues which are imperative in conversion of physical accounts into monetary accounts and for the integration of the latter into the ‘green’ national/state income accounting.
