Pakistan and the United States have decided to work for developing agriculture in Afghanistan.

Speaking at a seminar in Lahore the other day on "Challenges and started to experience food shortages. And experts say food scarcity is only going to get worse the world over in not-too-distant a future. Knowing that land is a finite resource, we must adopt timely measures to ensure our future food security.

Agricultural scientists should explore new possibilities in agriculture research and should learn problem handling in different ways. This was stated by Dr Zafar Altaf, Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Islamabad while addressing agricultural scientists at Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad.

THE government will frame separate guidelines for developing gene-based therapies and inventing drugs and vaccines from natural sources such as human, animal or micro-organism. The move will distinguish approval process for undertaking pre-clinical experiments for biologics from chemicalbased drugs, an official in department of biotechnology (DBT) said.

MUMBAI: With Gujarat taking the lead in attracting industrial investments in recent times, chief minister Ashok Chavan on Wednesday said Maharashtra will soon come out with new policies on Information Technology (IT) and Bio-technology (BT) to promote these sectors in a big way. Chavan promised to be pro-active in drafting a comprehensive, industry-friendly policy.
