Govt has approved the implementation of Sub-Mission on Agroforestry (SMAF) under the ambit of National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) from current financial year and Guidelines have been issued.

This paper focuses on the risks associated with “negative emission” techniques for drawing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis and storing it in land-based sinks or underground. It examines what these risks may imply for near-term actions to limit warming to 1.5°C or 2°C above pre-industrial levels.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Plantation of Trees to Combat Climate Change, 26/07/2016. Government implements afforestation schemes namely National Mission for a Green India and National Afforestation Programme under which financial support is provided for enhancing tree cover on forests and non-forest lands including agricultural lands.

Economical and efficient carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration technologies are a requirement for successful implementation of global action plans to reduce carbon emissions and to mitigate climate change. These technologies are also essential for longer-term use of fossil fuels while reducing the associated carbon footprint. We demonstrate an O2-assisted Al/CO2 electrochemical cell as a new approach to sequester CO2 emissions and, at the same time, to generate substantial amounts of electrical energy.

While agriculture remains the most significant driver of global deforestation, there is an urgent need to promote more positive interactions between agriculture and forestry to build sustainable agricultural systems and improve food security says this flagship report of the FAO released at 23d Session of the FAO Committee on Forestry (COFO).

This publication responds to calls in regional and global forestry forums to strengthen capacity for effectively developing and implementing payment schemes for environmental services in sub-Saharan Africa.

This assessment was conducted to fulfill the requirements of section 712 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and to contribute to knowledge of the storage, fluxes, and balance of carbon and methane gas in ecosystems of Alaska.

This study presents the findings of research into the global socio-economic and environmental impact of genetically modified (GM) crops in the nineteen years since they were first commercially planted on a significant area.

Agroforestry is a traditional and ancient land use practice, having deliberate integration of trees with crop and livestock components. In India, agroforestry practices are prevalent in different agro-ecological zones and occupy sizeable areas. These practices have great potential for climate change mitigation through sequestration of atmospheric CO2. Carbon sequestration potential was studied in four districts of Gujarat (Anand, Dahod, Patan and Junagarh), for which field survey was conducted to collect primary data on existing agroforestry systems.
