Systems for management of water throughout the developed world have been designed and operated under the assumption of stationarity. Stationarity-the idea that natural systems fluctuate within an unchanging envelope of variability-is a foundational concept that permeates training and practice in water-resource engineering.

The Krishni–Yamuna interstream area is a micro-watershed in the Central Ganga Plain and a highly fertile track of Western Uttar Pradesh. The Sugarcane and wheat are the major crops of the area. Aquifers of Quaternary age form the major source of Irrigation and municipal water supplies. A detailed hydrogeological investigation was carried out in the study area with an objective to assess aquifer framework, groundwater quality and its resource potential.

If the government is to be believed there is enough usable water in the country to meet projected demand until 2050. Stumped by this claim, scientists at iit Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia, New

This paper reviews the estimation methods developed and used in India for low-flow, long-term mean flow and flood characteristics. The review is intended to provide a quick reference guide for such methods used for hydrological prediction in ungauged basins. As such it lists identified estimation formulae for various parts of India with necessary parameters. The paper also effectively gives a quick assessment of the status of hydrological predictions at ungauged sites in India. Few studies focusing on low-flow estimation at ungauged sites have been identified.

In this book, there is a departure from empiricism and the emphasis is on the collection of data and analysis of the hydrological factors involved and promote hydrological design on sound principles and understanding of the science, for conservation and utilisation of water resources. Hydrological designs may be made by deterministic, probabilistic and stochastic approaches but what is more important is a matured judgement to understand and avoid what is termed as unusual meteorological combination.

The paper describes case study carried out for evaluation, planning and management of water resource in and around a limestone mining area located in Bamangaon and Mehgaon village of Vijayraghovgarh Block in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh. In the Vijayraghovgarh block was considered as an influencing zone for the water resource study. Average annual rainfall of the area is 1022 mm.
