Minister of Environment & Forests, Smt Jayanthi Natarajan inaugurated the one-day workshop 'Challenges in Climate Change Resilience and Adaptation - Potential for Collaboration between ICIMOD and India' on the occasion of first ever ICIMOD-India Day celebration today in New Delhi on 30th September 2011.

This bill approved by the union cabinet provides for mining companies to keep aside 26 per cent of their net profits for a mineral development fund to be used for the development and rehabilitation of project affected people in tribal areas.

The Centre for Science and Environment organized a workshop on 'Clean and Sustainable Mobility for all: Agenda for Reforms' on September 28-29, 2011 at IHC, New Delhi. This was a dialogue among the key target groups to help raise policy and public awareness regarding mobility crisis in our cities and the reforms under way to address the crisis.

This database contains results of urban outdoor air pollution monitoring from almost 1100 cities in 91 countries. Air quality is represented by annual mean concentration of fine particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5, i.e. particles smaller than 10 or 2.5 microns). The database covers the period from 2003 to 2010, with the majority of values for the years 2008 and 2009.

Participants at the National Consultation on Regulation of Drug Trials, organized by Sama, Locost, CSER, AIPSN and Daf-K, in New Delhi on 26-27 September, 2011, expressed their deep concern about the unregulated proliferation of ill-regulated clinical trials in India following the liberalisation of norms for conduct of such trials in 2005.

Ministry intends to revise guidelines for installation of wind turbine models in India. The underlying objective of this exercise is to reinvigorate wind power development in the country by creating a facilitative environment that promote healthy business, ensures safety standards and spur technological growth.
