Water and land resources are under increasing pressure in many parts of the globe. Diet change has been suggested as a measure to contribute to adequate food security for the growing population. This paper assesses the impact of diet change on the blue and green water footprints of food consumption. We first compare the water consumption of the current diets with that of a scenario where dietary guidelines are followed.

The major aim of this review is to assess the nutrition transition in Uttrakhand toward, to its contribution to the emerging epidemic of chronic non-communicable diseases.

This report sets out to integrate three important issues related to food. It asks what changes to diets and food-related behaviours could:

• Improve the ‘healthiness’ of the average diet of the UK population.

• Reduce emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.

• Use less land globally.

This twentieth edition of the Agricultural Outlook published jointly by OECD and FAO provides market projections to 2023 for major agricultural commodities, biofuels and fish across 41 countries and 12 regions. In a special focus on India, the Outlook projects sustained food production and consumption growth, led by value-added sectors like dairy production and aquaculture.

The production of animal-based foods is associated with higher greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than plant-based foods. The objective of this study was to estimate the difference in dietary GHG emissions between self-selected meat-eaters, fish-eaters, vegetarians and vegans in the UK. Subjects were participants in the EPIC-Oxford cohort study. The diets of 2,041 vegans, 15,751 vegetarians, 8,123 fish-eaters and 29,589 meat-eaters aged 20–79 were assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire.

According to this 2014 revision of the World Urbanization Prospects produced by the UN Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs Africa and Asia are urbanizing faster than other regions and the largest urban growth will take place in India, China and Nigeria. These three countries will account for 37 per cent of the projected growth of the world’s urban population between 2014 and 2050.

Valuable materials are leaking from our economies. In a world where demand and competition for finite and sometimes scarce resources will continue to increase, and pressure on resources is causing greater environmental degradation and fragility, Europe can benefit economically and environmentally from making better use of those resources.

The NSS 68th round survey was conducted during July 2011 to June 2012 to study the employment - unemployment situation in Delhi.
